Being new, this would probably be a great event for you to do if you can, at least participate and see how it works.

So it's always best to NOT cash them in, because tokens are tokens and remain in your inventory until you spend them in shop. PS: if you cash the token in the soul relic you get will only be able to use for a similar element type event. For a good event, it might take 30 tokens combined with some grinding to complete it without spending money. Most of the time you'll get one or two stars so getting a 3* is always nice.
